Sunday we celebrated Austin's 3rd birthday! We didn't have an official birthday party (no cake much to Austin's disappointment) but Austin got to choose what he wanted for lunch (mac and cheese, kielbasa sausage and green beans) and he got a few presents to open.
Our neighbor got Austin this awesome doggy bank. You put your money in his dog bowl and he 'eats' it all up. Austin LOVES this!!!
Adelaide is enjoying her new play mat. The pillow really helps her lift her head. It's still hard for her when she is on her tummy directly on the floor since she's not pushing up with her arms yet. Her neck is getting a lot stronger and she is able to hold it up a little better every day!
This is Teacher Appreciation Week so yesterday morning the boys 'made' cookies for their teachers. We were lazy and got store bought cookies. However, Austin was very proud of his cookies! Tomorrow we are going to take them their favorite candy bars.
He clapped for himself every time he set a cookie on the pan.
I did rearrange them on the baking sheet before I stuck them in the oven! Austin was fascinated by the fact they were bigger when we took them out of the oven. He talked about the cookies getting bigger all day!
And, yesterday I fed Adelaide and we were getting ready to leave the house so I set her down on the bed so we could get ready and she promptly started to doze off. Since she has such a pretty face I decided to take a couple pictures!
This morning Austin practiced cutting. He's learned how to use the scissors so he really likes to cut right now.
Gavin worked on his phonics book. He did the last 15 pages all today and finished his book so he's all done with phonics in Kindergarten!! He was very excited. Since he worked so hard to finish the book I didn't make him do handwriting or math today.
The last page was completing a maze taking the kids from the Kindergarten class to the 1st grade class.
And...Done!!
Adelaide enjoyed some time in her play gym this morning.
Gavin finished history yesterday. We read these two books about buffalo. Neither has anything to do with Lewis and Clark, just about the buffalo.
We are still reading this chapter book about Seaman, the dog that went on the Lewis and Clark expedition, during meal times, when I can put Adelaide down long enough to read! Needless to say, it's not going very quickly.
And we have started this book that we are reading before bedtime. It's another book by Thornton Burgess, who wrote the bird book and some of the other animal books we have enjoyed so much. It covers the animals of the forest and meadow.
