Today, Kaitlynn found a new hat. Yup, that would be a fishing net!
Gavin worked on a Santa face ABC maze and ornament counting. Kaitlynn and Gavin started a reindeer craft but we had to let paint dry so we'll have to hopefully finish it tomorrow if we have time. We have soccer practice and TWO birthday parties tomorrow so it's going to be hectic. I tried to get out of one of the birthday's but the problem is when everyone knows each other it's hard to do that without hurting people's feelings and I just cannot say 'no' for some reason. Oh well, it's one day and Gavin will have lots of fun and sugar which will make him happy!
Today, Saint Nicholas (or San Nic-o-la as Gavin calls him and keeps correcting me) made a visit at Gavin's school, which was very nice considering his busy schedule this time of year. I LOVE his outfit! Reminds me of the pope. Here he is coming into the gym and the kids were singing a song to him that was about him. The sun was making his beard glow which is strangely fitting!
Gavin got to talk to Saint Nicholas for a little bit and Saint Nicholas gave him some French candies and an orange!
Kaitlynn was very interested in Saint Nicholas but wouldn't go up close enough to get a good picture. She did get close enough to take a goody bag though!
Austin did not give Saint Nicholas one bit of attention so he will probably be getting a lump of coal for Christmas. He did however have fun trying to eat his toes, which is not easy when you are sitting, but he made a valiant effort! He is getting better at sitting by himself. Not so good I can leave him unattended, but he doesn't just fall sideways anymore either.
Then this evening we bundled up (it is super cold outside) and went downtown. They always have a night in December where all the stores stay open late and they have Christmas carolers, musicians, roasting chestnuts, popcorn, etc. It's a lot of fun but always sooo cold! Gavin got to see Santa Claus (for free!). At first he acted like he wasn't going to go up to him, but he did and he even remembered to tell Santa he wanted a bike, football players and army guys (all of which he is getting for Christmas) and he even got a candy cane for his bravery (because lets face it, Santa is kind of scary).
Love the hat hair in that picture!
I keep wondering when Gavin is going to ask about why there is a Saint Nicholas and a Santa Claus but luckily so far he hasn't mentioned it because I'm not exactly sure how to answer that one.
Gavin and Austin enjoyed watching a (female) Elvis impersonator sing 'Blue Christmas'. Actually, she was lip syncing to Elvis.
We ended up staying down there for two hours and both of the boys were really good considering it was past their bedtime by then. Austin was just starting to get fussy the last 15 minutes or so. We were watching a living Nativity at a local church.
And, just because he's so darn cute, Austin feel asleep on the way home...
How could you not love that face!
I haven't mentioned on the blog but I'm sure everyone knows that Austin has two teeth coming in, bottom front. I noticed the first one had broken through on Monday (Steven's birthday!) and he has been pretty fussy this week (for him at least). He did better today.
Some people are just sometimes called by two names. Sometimes you're Mom and sometimes you're Kristyn.
ReplyDeleteYes, but they look completely different. And one speaks French.
