This morning Gavin reviewed the stories about Abraham from this week and drew a picture of Abraham with Isaac on the altar.  We worked on adding 11 in math and played a 'Go Fish' style game trying to match numbers that equal 11.

We learned a little more about Joseph Turner today. Gavin studied two of his paintings (one at a time) and then turned them over and told me everything he remembered about the painting. I didn't think he would like doing this and I am glad we started with Turner because he really likes Turner's paintings, lots of storms and ships at sea. Then Gavin (and Austin) made a Turner-style painting of a ship on a stormy sea.

First Gavin drew his horizon line in pencil and then he added a boat in black crayon.

Austin just started painting.

Then Gavin painted using lighter greens and blues and then went back over it with darker greens and blues.
Austin told us he was painting a whale.

When Gavin was finished painting he sprinkled salt onto his painting to give it a watery look.  I think he was a little too liberal with the salt but he liked the effect so I didn't say anything.  Art is in the eye of the artist!

Here is Austin with his whale!

Gavin's masts got lost in the painting.  He should have done those in crayon too!

When school was over we went to the park to play!
