Gavin got to work with more geometry tools today.  First we reviewed what vertical and horizontal lines are, then he practiced making perfect lines using a T square and his triangle.  He did a pretty good job.  We have a huge T square and it was a little tricky for him to hold it and the triangle down and mark the line all at the same time so making the horizontal lines (with just the T square) was easier than making the vertical lines.

Last week he made a little car with his Engineering Kit.  Today he made a wind up car.  It uses a rubber band to wind around a spool when you push it back and that gives it the force to move forward.

It wasn't quite as dramatic as he had hoped.  It only went a few inches, not clear across the room.  It was kind of hard to get the rubber band wound around the spool.

Since it rained all day and we were done with school fairly early, we took the opportunity to watch The Sound of Music.  We stopped at the Intermission because it was time for Gavin to go to alumni but maybe we'll finish it tomorrow.  The boys are enjoying all the songs!
