This morning Gavin learned how to make change.  We gathered some items from around our schoolroom and he sold them to me.  Then I gave him some money and he had to figure out how much change to give me.

We took a tour of Paris today, watching YouTube videos about the Eiffel Tower, Arc du Triomphe and the Louvre.  We looked at the time and weather in Paris, watched a live webcam in Paris and learned about the brothers who invented the hot air balloon (who, of course, were French).  For lunch we made Croque Monsieur, basically a grilled ham and cheese sandwich (we used gouda) that you cook like a grilled cheese sandwich then you sprinkle more cheese on top and stick it in a hot oven until that cheese melts.  And, I was just looking at some pictures and apparently I didn't sprinkle enough cheese on top.  Either way, they were very yummy!  The boys are really liking French food right now.  Here is Gavin checking to see if the cheese has melted.

Here's what we ended up with.  The pictures I just saw had so much cheese on top you couldn't see the bread!

Happy 8th month birthday to Adelaide!  She had her first Cheerios in celebration.

Austin and I played a game of Candyland.  Then Gavin and Austin played a game of Candyland which started really well and ended with Austin smacking Gavin in the head with the box...I'm assuming some day they'll be able to play nicely together...

We finished Abraham Lincoln today by watching a documentary about his life.  We will officially start Civil War next week and Gavin is so excited!
