Today Gavin worked on his first Gauguin style painting. He painted a landscape using crazy, bright colors. Austin started drawing a picture of a shark...I'm not sure what it was by the end.
This was when he was looking at his paper trying to decide what to paint. He saw me get out the camera and said, "Mom, I'm not ready for you to take a picture yet, put that thing away!" I took his picture anyway!
Gavin started by sketching his landscape.
There's a rag in the background because the boys managed to spill their water four times in the 15-20 minutes they spent painting...it was kind of one of those days...
His landscape was a rain forest. The yellow creature on the tree is supposed to be a spider monkey and the red creature across from him is a sloth.
This evening Austin's school had a bonfire/hot dog cookout at a local farm. Adelaide was very interested in the pumpkins. She looked very chic in her baby skinny jeans! I got her cute kitty hat clearanced for $1 at Toys R Us last spring.
Austin didn't want to get his picture taken but I did manage to get this one in during the hay ride. He was sitting next to his best friend Evan.
Today Gavin and I read this fun book about Elisha Otis, the guy who invented the safety brake for elevators.
And we finished reading this book about Addy. She's an American Girl but Gavin really enjoyed her story anyway. We will start the second book of the series in the next couple days.
And we read another chapter of Little Bo.
