Today was our annual trip to the goat farm! We always look forward to visiting the goats every year. The farm is owned by a local couple who make goat cheese in a shed on the property (it's delicious!). I didn't get many pictures of Gavin because he was running around with this friends the whole time but Austin and I had a great time!
How can you not love a face like this? If I ever live in the country, I'm going to get a couple of goats. Not this big though, a couple small goats.
This would have been a cute picture had the dog not chosen this moment to come along.
Gavin and his friends went into the shed where they milk the goats and make the cheese to watch the process. Austin and I stayed outside and amused ourselves talking to the goats who were waiting to be milked. At first, Austin wasn't sure about the goats and seemed a little bit scared of them, but it wasn't too long before he was saying 'hi goat' to every goat he saw (and that was a lot!).
Then we had the excitement of finding chickens! I don't know what kind of chickens they were but they were very pretty chickens.
Austin pretty much herded them into the bushes.
Then Gavin and his friends came out and drove the chickens further into the bushes.
Then it was time to see the goats in the barn.
Someone almost got in the way of this picture but I love Austin's face so I posted it anyway! Always with his tongue sticking out!
There was a duck sitting on a nest in the barn (this does not look like a duck to me but that's what people were calling it). It was not too happy about all the activity in the barn this morning and snapped at anyone who got too close. We found more eggs buried in the straw in the other barn but I don't know who they belonged too because there were no birds around.
Gavin with his friends!
We had a yummy snack of baguette with goat cheese, strawberries and bananas. Very tasty! Then we came home. We have not worked on birds at all this week. It has been so nice outside that we keep going outside instead! We are going to try and finish birds by the end of next week. We have still been reading Trumpet of the Swan and Happy Jack Squirrel.
