This morning Gavin reviewed the creation story by acting it out on the felt board.  Then Gavin worked on his rhyming words game while I read to Austin.

This is the game he is using...

Austin did more dot painting with letter 'E' for eggs and elephant.  He made lots of funny faces while he did this!

I had a 30% off coupon to Barnes and Noble so I got Austin this new game called Colorama.  It's actually a board game but this year we are just using it to match shapes and colors.  Next year we may try it as a board game.

Today I just let him do what he wanted with it.  He is matching the shapes but not the colors.  I'm not too worried about it right now.  After a while I may try and get him to match both.

Gavin is still working on listening for short i, e and u in words.  I said a word and he had to circle the vowel he heard on the chalkboard.

Austin played with a Melissa and Doug barnyard stamp set.
He had lots of fun and got ink all over his hands!

Then he played with his bird matching game.

Meanwhile, Gavin practiced writing cursive letter 'e'.

Then he worked on his abacus.

He is still working on recognizing numbers using tally marks without counting.  We also played a matching game using cards that had beads like the abacus with numbers 1-10.
Today we started learning about space.  We read a few books then Gavin worked on making a jetpack...because you can't go to space without a jetpack.
Our Elmer's is almost out so it's hard to squeeze which is why he has such a look of determination in this picture.

The 'fire' streams out behind him when he runs which makes the dogs very excited!

While Gavin worked on his jetpack, Austin made a rocket by matching shapes.  He did a good job matching the shapes but had trouble getting the shapes in same position as the picture.

Then he sorted an astronaut from biggest to smallest.

Today we read:

We looked at the pictures more in this book then actually reading it.

At lunch we finished this book.  The chapters we read today were about the Plains Indians.

On Friday Gavin and I started reading The Swiss Family Robinson.  He is really enjoying this book!

Austin and I read another book about an elephant.
